July is arthritis month!

Free Arthritis Clinics with our nurses

July is arthritis month at Hawthorn Vets and we would like to draw your attention to our FREE clinics for older pets with our veterinary nurses.

Arthritis is very common in pets as they get older or for those who have suffered from joint injuries at a younger age and while symptoms such as lameness, stiffness and reluctance to go on walks can be obvious; other pets display much more subtle changes. For example licking at specific joints, coat changes, aggression and weight gain can all be secondary to arthritis and joint pain.

Our Free arthritis clinics comprise of a 6 week program which begins with a thorough history and assessment of your pet. We’ll discuss everything from bedding to bathing and assess weight, size and mobility.

We’ll then be able to recommend the appropriate management for your pet and can advise on many options such as:

  • Joint supplements
  • Acupuncture
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Pain relief
  • Massage

Additionally, we’ll create a “diary” to help assess your pet’s pain score, mobility and progression so that we can assess how well he/she is responding.

If your pet is showing any of the above signs, it’s well worth getting them assessed. You can get in touch via phone or email, or book an appointment online.
