If you have mated your bitch (or are planning to do so), an ultrasound scan to confirm that she is pregnant is very useful. Using our high quality dopper ultrasound machines we can not only confirm pregnancy, but can also give an indication of litter size and check puppy heart beats and size.
Scans can be performed from 4 weeks of gestation onwards (ideally gestation is measured from the date of ovulation ascertained from progesterone testing).
Our Pregnancy Ultrasound service consists of a 30 minute consultation
with a veterinary surgeon to include the ultrasound scan itself and an assessment of your dog. It is
also an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about the
whelping process and how to manage your dog and her puppies before and
after the whelping process.
We can give advice on feeding, what flea and worm treatments and protocols to use and what to expect during the whelping process. We can also give guidance on the regulations surrounding the sale of the pups, microchipping, vaccination, health checks and much more!
