At Hawthorn Vets we are very lucky to have a very knowledgeable nursing team who are on hand to give advice as well as providing free of charge nurse clinics. Behind the scenes, our nurses are very experienced in anaesthesia, radiography, dentistry and many other aspects of veterinary practice.
Heather Tettersell RVN - Head Nurse - currently on Maternity Leave
Heather joined the practice in December 2019. She has been involved in the Veterinary industry for over 10 years and qualified from Plumpton College in August 2018 having gained a diploma with merit in Veterinary Nursing. Heather lives in Shoreham with her husband Jack, however grew up locally in Upper Beeding. Heather's love of animals started early and she remembers visiting Hawthorn Vets from a young age with her family pets. Heather adopted her cat, "Merlin", when he was bought into Hawthorn Vets as a stray and needed a loving, forever home.
Lauren Snow RVN - Deputy Head Nurse
Lauren came to Hawthorn to begin her nurse training in January 2020. Normally it is a one year post, but she has got on so well that we asked her to stay! Lauren qualified as an RVN in June 2022. Outside of work, Lauren is kept busy with her horse, "Moose" and yard companion "Penny" the cocker spaniel. She's also the proud owner of cats Chase and Gigi!
Faye Hurdman RVN
Faye joined the Hawthorn team in July 2015 and brings over 15 years of nursing experience with her. Alongside her Veterinary Nursing qualification, Faye has completed the BSAVA merit award in Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy. When not at work you will find Faye trapsing around West sussex with her dogs, children and their beloved pony Pi!
Jo Hardy RVN
Jo qualified as an RVN in 2012 and has always worked in independent practice because she believes in providing a more personal service - hence she joined Hawthorn in 2024! She moved to Worthing in 2016 and enjoys the life by the sea with her husband, young son and Shroom the cat. She is also an avid Liverpool supporter!
Louise Halley RVN
Lou started training as an ANA in 2017 and went on to qualify as an RVN in February 2022. She joined Hawthorn vets in April 2024. In her spare time, Lou enjoys socialising with friends and family, shopping and spending time with her golden retriever and 4 cats!
Hayley Burgess RVN
Hayley started at Hawthorn in November 2019. She studied Animal Management Level 3 at Brinsbury College and qualified with a triple grade Distinction. She completed her nurse training to become a qualified RVN in July 2024
Amina El-Alami RVN
Amina Qualified as an RVN in 2020 after gaining her degree at Middlesex University. She joined Hawthorn vets in March 2025. Outside of work she enjoys dog walks with her 3 dogs - Squid, Ralphie and Chester as well as cuddles with her tabby cat - Luna. She also enjoys singing in a choir.
Sophie Gunn - RVN
Sophie joined Hawthorn in 2023 as a student veterinary nurse. She qualified in 2025 with honours. Sophie particularly loves working at Hawthorn vets because of the varied case load and has found a love of inpatient care and nursing. At home she is kept busy with her 5 dogs including a one eyed Chihuahua called Hetty and her 2 horses, Bear and Massy!
Katie Edmonds - Animal Care Assistant
Katie has lived in Partridge Green all her life and is what some people
would call a country bumpkin! She has studied Animal Care and
Agriculture at Brinsbury collage for 4 years and has a massive love for
animals big and small. She has two Jack Russells at home Alfie and a
puppy called Bertie.
Lucy Cole - Student Veterinary Nurse
Lucy started at Hawthorn in November 2019. Previously she has worked in a care home and is looking forward to learning more about pet care! Lucy came back from maternity leave in 2025 and has two children.
Emily Crane - Animal Care Assistant
Emily started at Hawthorn in March 2022 and has lived in Partridge
Green all her life. Soon after she finished her A levels she worked as
an Art Technician and then at a Nursery . Ever since she was little
she’s always aspired to work at the place that took the best care of her
animals. After being brought up with 3 boxers in her family there’s
now a fourth, a bouncy 2 year old boxer called Beau. The saying about
working with children and animals springs to mind!
